The “Software Engineering” workgroup of the Heinz Nixdorf Institut at Paderborn University develops model-based engineering approaches for safe and reliable software-intensive systems, including techniques based on UML (Unified Modeling Language).

Named as a Leading-Edge Cluster by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung, BMBF), it is involved in 45 research projects to develop intelligent technical systems and make Industry 4.0 a reality.
